Bachelor's program 6.04020501 «Statistics»

Speciality "Statistics" in the educational direction "Mathematics" was founded in 1996. Speciality "Statistics" has two narrow specializations: "Financial and Actuarial Mathematics" and "Mathematical Economics and Econometrics".

Certified Specialists of Statistics and Masters of Statistics work as statisticians, system analysts, risk experts, managers, specialist on IT-technologies, scientific workers and teachers in the fields of statistics, stochastics and mathematics in different government and commercial institutions.

Bachelor's program 6.04020101 «Mathematics», specialization "Probability theory and mathematical statistics"

According to archival documents the Department of Probability Theory and Algebra was founded at the Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty in 1945, at that time several courses in Probability theory and Mathematical Statistics were introduced.

Speciality “Theory of Probability and Mathematical Statistics” in framework of the educational direction “Mathematics” was implemented in Kiev National University in 1958. Now this speciality as scientific field consists of the following areas: “Probability theory”, ”Mathematical statistics”, “Theory of stochastic processes and fields”, “Stochastic analysis”, “Stochastic differential equations”, “Actuarial and financial mathematics” and some other ones. Special courses in this speciality reflect the modern directions of probability and statistics:

This list includes Bachelor and Master level. Graduates from this speciality study special computer courses in applied statistics and general method of theoretical statistics.

Master's program 8.04020101 «Mathematics», specialization "Probability theory and mathematical statistics"

Specialty "Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics" was founded at Kyiv University in 1958 as a part of educational direction "Mathematics".

Now this specialty includes the following sections: probability theory, mathematical statistics, theory of random processes and fields, stochastic analysis, stochastic differential equations, actuarial and financial mathematics, cryptography and cryptanalysis, computer statistics and some others. .

Normative term of study in magistracy is 2 years full-time education.
Enter into the magistracy can bachelors of mathematics.
Graduates get qualification of "mathematics" and can hold listed primary positions: Also, masters of mathematics can work as system analysts, managers, specialists in IT-technologies, researchers and teachers of mathematics, computer science, probability disciplines, mathematical economics, actuarial sciences in a variety of state and private institutions and organizations.

The curriculum of two years studying includes the following normative disciplines in four cycles:

1. Cycle of professionally oriented humanitarian and socio-economic training
2. Cycle of professionally oriented mathematical and natural-scientific training
3. Cycle of professional and practical training
4. Cycle of student and higher education selection disciplines
Block of special courses "Probability theory and mathematical statistics" consists from:
Students of qualification level "Master of mathematics" are teaching for six weeks and perform practical training for four weeks. Also, they take state exam in mathematics and protect master's diploma.

Master's program 8.04020501 «Statistics» («Theoretical and applied statistics»)

Speciality "Statistics" was included into the training direction "Mathematics" in 1996. It's allocated as a separate field since 2010.
This speciality is introduced by two specializations: "Financial and actuarial mathematics" and "Mathematical economy and econometrics".
Graduates of master's program "Theoretical and applied statistics" get qualification of "Master's of statistics" after two years of styding.
At the list of specialities it corresponding the qualification "Researcher and consultant(Statistics)".
Graduates can hold listed primary positions: In addition, master's of statistics can work statisticians, systems analysts, experts in risk, researchers and teachers of statistics, probability and math courses in a variety of government and commercial organizations.

Master's program «Actuarial and financial mathematics» was included into the teaching direction "Mathematics" in 2010.
Graduate get qualification of "Actuary" and, according to the classification of professions DK003:2010 and Industry educational standards of specified speciality can hold listed primary positions: Master's with speciality "Actuarial and financial mathematics" can work actuaries, systems and financial analysts, experts in risk managers, researchers and teachers of statistics and mathematics in a variety of government and commercial organizations.
